Catch up with all the Pageantry of Love with our NATIVE gossip columnist

Well, well, well...it has been a year already and there is just so much to say! So lets not waste anytime and get down to it, shall we!

Well many things have come to pass, and mostly, as Hawaiians, we learn, experience, forgive and we never forget “like this one time in band camp.”  This has been the year of unforgettable features, as well as one of my own.  Some of the top of my favorites for 2001 are as follows:  Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Big Eden, Final Fantasy, The Lord of the Rings, Moulin Rouge and so many others that I can’t even remember.

It has also been the year for pageantry where many have come and competed; some win and the rest lose, sometimes to someone that maybe should not have won but I’m not BITTER, or am I?  Queen of Hearts, yours truly, and the Jewel of the Galaxy, once again myself—oh wait I gave that crown away last year to none other than Phoenix Fire (or better known to me as Lady Vienna, you go girl!)  Goddess of Illusions, Miss Yoshiko Oshiro, you damn FISH—get out of the water already and into the tank!  Showgirl Goddess, none other than my girl, the Badd Mamma Jamma herself, Araya Sunshine!  Then there was that ‘UPSET’ of a pageant, Universal Show Queen, which was taken by none other than Kaina Jacobs.  I hate you, you damn tall beautiful mo‘o!!!  And then there were some other smaller pageants, which at this time I will fail to mention because we need to move on.

Now let’s get to the love!  This has been a crazy year for love and all that comes with it—nothing but DRAMA!!!  I think that I will have to have a separate column for this subject due to the fact that it would take up too much space and many endless nights of troubled and lonesome hearts with nothing better to read, except for what I have to say about this topic.  But as for love, just remember that there is always someone to love and that you should spread the ALOHA, be safe, and just love everybody already!  You only live a few times, unless your Hawaiian, then this is your last lifetime on this planet...so you know I have to get ALL the love in before I go!  Wait, I’m only half-Hawaiian, so does that mean the other half of me will be reborn again????  Hmm, something to think about.

Well there are many things coming up for the new year of 2002, many great events, some scheduled travel plans for a few of us, as well as doing some very important work out there in our own communities.  So to everyone out there, keep up the good work, and keep it up!  And just one last thing, “There are three things I love most and that's love, love, and love.”

                                                                                    Me ke aloha pumehana,
